The finance ministry is resisting a Planning Commission proposal for a 10% increase in the budgetary support for the first year of the Twelfth Five-Year Plan, citing limited resources with the government. The commission had sought this raise to offset the 9% average inflation in the past year, but the ministry said it can afford only a 5% increase. "The proposed increase in budgetary support as of now is somewhere around 5%. It might go up a littlea¦ All in all, this is not a year to expect a very good increase in budgetary support," a government official told ET.
